BASC joins launch of new partnership
BASC has today announced it is one of nine leading rural organisations involved in the launch of a new partnership that will promote sustainable game shooting.
‘Aim to Sustain’ has been created to combine expertise and resources to communicate to the public and decision-makers how sustainability is at the core of progressive game management.
The organisations will retain their independence but work closely to promote the highest standards of self-regulation and produce credible, robust and focused research.
Nine organisations combine in Aim to Sustain
The other partner organisations are Countryside Alliance (CA), Moorland Association (MA), British Game Alliance (BGA), Game Farmers’ Association (GFA), National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO), Scottish Land & Estates (SLE) and Country Land and Business Association (CLA). The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) are advisors.
Aim To Sustain launches with a 10-week ‘Have Your Say’ consultation that will seek the opinions of the quarter of a million-strong combined membership of the individual organisations.
BASC chairman Eoghan Cameron said: “This is the culmination of months of intense work and represents an unprecedented, powerful and formal coming together of British countryside organisations with a collective interest in shooting, biodiversity and the environment.”
BASC chief executive Ian Bell said: “Each individual organisation’s input will add to the strength of the partnership. Together we are stronger and our voice louder.
“By combining expertise and co-ordinating activities, the partnership is an exciting opportunity to highlight the massive contribution that is made to sustainability through game management and shooting.”
