BASC Women in Shooting hosts simulated Macnab

Participants travelled from across the UK to attend BASC Women in Shooting’s inaugural simulated Macnab experience at the prestigious Gleneagles Shooting School.

The event was held within the grounds of the Gleneagles estate. It saw participants spend the morning taking part in fly fishing on the scenic loch in front of the Gleneagles Hotel and a 40-bird clay shoot.

Later on in the day, they took part in a simulated deer shoot on a rifle range overseen by BASC and Gleneagles Shooting School staff. From there, they were driven through the estate to a rifle range which overlooked the Ochil Hills. There they got to practice their skills under expert guidance.

BASC’s Lianne MacLennan said: “It was fantastic to see so many women come together from across the UK to experience a day in Scotland.”

She added: “These women come from all walks of life, with varied backgrounds and connections to shooting. Many of them met for the first time on the day. It goes to show how vital groups like BASC Women in Shooting are in facilitating events that help women develop their skills and explore new interests.

“This type of event is great for offering opportunities for everybody to be involved, whether they are novice or expert. Events like this build lifelong friendships and provide a support network—a true community.”
