Joy for GB’s Jeffery at Paralympics

Congratulations to Team GB’s Tim Jeffery who won his first Paralympic medal in a tight contest in Chateauroux yesterday, 4 September.

The 29-year-old from Newbury held his nerve to secure a bronze medal and his place on the podium with a score of 227.8 in the R9 mixed 50m rifle prone SH2.

Speaking after his win in the bronze medal match, Tim said it “was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a long time.”

“It was a struggle in qualification but a good end result. There was some real determination out there, I had to dig deep and just trust the process. It’s my first Paralympic medal and I couldn’t be happier.

“It’s been incredible to share this first, hopefully of many, Paralympic medal with my friends and family who are out here.”

Tim started shooting in his local Scout group when he was 11 and it was his love of the technical aspect of the sport drove him to pursue it professionally. Born with just one hand, he was set on proving to everyone that he could hold and fire a rifle that was almost bigger than him.

After competing at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, he joined British Shooting and quickly progressed to the World Class Programme. When he’s not focused on training, Tim is involved in helping to train the next generation of athletes with his work for the development pathway.
